Seminar: Nuclear Supply Chain: Safety & Quality Requirements Expectations

On May 22nd, 2025, a seminar devoted to building human resources and competencies for the Polish nuclear sector was held at the Centre for New Technologies of the Silesian University of Technology. The seminar was organized by the DEsire – Energy Transition Platform, which is managed by the Silesian University of Technology and the Apave Group. During the event, a letter of intent on cooperation between Apave and the Silesian University of Technology was signed. The document was signed by Arkadiusz Damian Izdebski, President of Apave Poland, and Sebastian Werle, Vice-Rector for Science and International Cooperation. Representatives from over twenty companies attended the seminar, where Lukasz Bartela and Tomasz Bury gave presentations on the importance of nuclear energy in decarbonising the economy, and on the Silesian University of Technology’s experience in nuclear energy research and teaching. Representatives of Apave, Arkadiusz Damian Izdebski and Nicolas Pierredon, Head of the Expertise & Innovation Department at Apave in France, then discussed the company’s experience in the field of nuclear energy and the hierarchy of codes, regulations and standards related to nuclear safety. During a lively discussion, participants expressed their expectations and concerns regarding the development of competencies in the nuclear energy supply chain.
