On June 6th, 2025, The Nuclear Energy Open Day was organized at the Education and Congress Center of the Silesian University of Technology. The event was addressed mainly to high school students and students – those looking for an idea for a professional career and those who are already determined and open to establishing contacts with representatives of the nuclear sector.
The participants of the event were greeted by Prof. Anna Chrobok, Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Education. Then the Rector of the Silesian University of Technology, Prof. Marek Pawełczyk, emphasized the great role that The Silesian University of Technology has played and continues to play in the field of educating personnel for the energy sector, including nuclear energy. He also emphasized the great importance of research projects in the field of nuclear energy, the implementation of which by university teams should take place in parallel with the didactic activities carried out in this area. The importance of nuclear energy for the national economy, as well as the importance of staff training for the nuclear sector, was discussed in their statements by representatives of the government side – Prof. Marek Gzik, Ministry of Science and Higher Education and Dr. Paweł Gajda, Director of the Department of Nuclear Energy at the Ministry of Energy.
During the event, which was attended by about 350 people, a discussion panel was organized, to which the invitations were accepted by:

🔸 Lukasz Bartela, The Silesian University of Technology.
The conversation was moderated by Iwona Flanczewska.
In the statements of the representatives of the University, the government and the panelists, the great importance of educating staff at both secondary and higher education levels for the effective implementation of the national nuclear energy programme was strongly emphasized. The nuclear sector is waiting not only for power engineers, but also for employees specializing in areas such as mechanics, electrics, chemistry, IT, automation, and construction.
