A workshop event of the international Repower community, whose members are participants in the DEsire project, was held in Xiamen, China, on April 27-28. The conference was hosted by Xiamen University. The meeting was attended by 24 scientists from 9 countries, including China, South Korea, Indonesia, India, Australia, Poland, Spain, Sweden and the UK.
The chairman of the conference was a representative of Xiamen University, Professor Yaoli Zhang. The DEsire project was represented by Lukasz Bartela, who presented the results developed as part of the project and took part in a panel discussion, which was devoted to ways of strengthening international cooperation of entities participating in the creation and promotion of the idea of decarbonization through repowering. During the two-day meeting, speeches were furthermore given by Sheng Zhou (Tsinghua University, China), Retno Gumilang (Bandung Institute of Technology, Indonesia), Huifang Miao, Yaoli Zhang (Xiamen University ), Jeong Ik Lee (KAIST, South Korea), Abhinav Jindal (Indian Institute of Technology), Xinwei Zhu and Yanlin Su (China Power Engineering Consulting Group), Staffan Qvist and Daniel Cox (Quantified Carbon). Panellists included Bryony Worthington (Quantified Carbon), Philip Andrews-Speed (Oxford University), Muyi Yang (Sydney University of Technology), Wei Li (China Power Engineering Consulting Group), Ding Chen (China Nuclear Think Tank), Yuan Yuan (Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation), Bob Effendi, Rino R Mukti (Bandung Institute of Technology).
