From August 21-27, 2023, Dr. Tomasz Bury was in Japan, where he participated in technical tours and study visits to the following facilities:
\n– Hamaoka Nuclear Power Plant,
\n– Japanese Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA) research center in Oarai (HTTR high-temperature reactor and Nuclear Fuel Cycle Engineering Lab),
\n– Plutonium fuel fabrication plant at the JAEA’s Tokaimura facility,
\n– Nuclear Emergency Assistance and Training Center in Katsuta,
\n– JAEA research and training center in Tokaimura (Nuclear Human Resources Development Center, Nuclear Safety Research Center),
\n– Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant.<\/p>\n

During the visit to JAEA’s Oarai Research Center and Tokaimura Research and Training Center, the assumptions and results obtained so far in the DEsire project were presented. A discussion was also held on Japan’s experience in low-power nuclear reactor technology and its potential use for industrial decarbonization. Basic information about the project was also provided to the staff of the Hamaoka Nuclear Power Plant, and information was obtained from the Japanese side on the experience of nuclear units being cooled.<\/p>\n\n\t\t
