On March 28, the conference \u201cFrom Coal to Nuclear. Be\u0142chat\u00f3w of the Future\u201d took place in Be\u0142chat\u00f3w, gathering around 1,000 participants \u2013 including employees of the local power plant and lignite mine. For many attendees, the future of the region’s energy sector is a deeply personal and crucial issue.<\/p>\n
Among the invited guests were local government officials, representatives of the national government, executives from PGE S.A. and PGE GiEK S.A., labor union leaders, and researchers from Polish universities and scientific institutes.<\/p>\n
The event featured four discussion panels focused on the potential of the Be\u0142chat\u00f3w site as a candidate for Poland\u2019s second nuclear power plant, as indicated by the Ministry of Industry in the upcoming update to the Polish Nuclear Energy Program (PPEJ).<\/p>\n
