The conference “Energy transition in practice” was organized by „Energopomiar” Sp. z o.o. – a company strongly involved in the process of national power industry sector transformation. The company’s nuclear power competences are also directed towards the potential transition of currently operating coal-fired power systems into nuclear systems. Convergent goals are the basis for formulating joint activities within the framework of the Power Industry Transformation Cluster, which is being prepared as one of DEsire project research tasks. During the second edition of the conference, which was held on May 24-26, in the beautiful castle in Ryn, a paper entitled “Just transformation of coal regions with the option of Coal-to-Nuclear transformation” was presented by Lukasz Bartela. Options, opportunities and risks related to the implementation of nuclear investments in close proximity to highly industrialized regions were discussed.
